- The writing: I’m afraid there were more misses than hits this week. I’m still plugging away at the awesome notes I got from my beta readers. I’ve had a few ah-ha moments. But mostly, my head just wasn’t in the game this week.
- Maybe it’s time for something drastic? Kelsey Browning guest posted on KM Weiland’s Wordplay Friday. Has anyone tried The Benefits of Reading Deprivation?
- The blogging: I have a decent number of posts in the queue, but in a rather hodge-podge order. So, gulp, that week cushion needs to be built up again.
- The blogiversary: I’m still looking for April book releases and/or reader (reading) focused posts.
- The social media: there have been some fantastic posts this week but that “my head just wasn’t in the game this week” messed with my comments. Sorry guys.
- And of course Guru Kristen Lamb had another fab post the subject: T.E.A.M – Together Everyone Achieves More. :hangs head in shame:
- The health: I’m still doing well with the water intake. The sugar reduction is going better than I anticipated. The dog walking is still a bit hit and miss. I’d hoped to be back up to 5-6 days a week by March and that hasn’t happened. In my defense, we had a lot of windy mornings this last week which vetoed the walk (wind + desert dust/sand + contacts = no outdoor activities for moi).
- Are you running on empty? Or just running low, read Refill Your Glass: A Simple Way to Make the Most of Yourself a guest post by Gretchen Knox on Tiny Buddha.

Sometimes we just have weeks that are more miss than hit. It’s part of life. We keep moving along. 🙂
Good luck for the rest of the week!

Ain’t that the truth, LOL.

This usually happens to me after NaNo. My brain is so fried that no matter how badly I want to read, I just can’t. That’s when I get the closets cleaned and the holiday decorations up and all that stuff that I’ve put off. I do sometimes have good ideas pop up, but usually it’s a complete recharge of the brain cells.
Thanks for the links. Just reaffirming what I’ve been trying to do. I took time to recharge just yesterday and walked around a bookstore here in town I’ve never been in. Helped me get back to myself. (Perusing old books will do that to me!)
You’ll get there Raelyn! Totally understand about the sand/wind. I’ve actually had a shower turn to mud after washing all the dirt out of my hair. Not fun!

Oh, I’m reading, probably why I’m not making much writing headway. Tomorrow is the start of another week…
Thanks for stopping by Melanie.

I’ve never mentioned this but I love how you blend your update with useful links – cool idea. Even with your “head not in the game” you still made progress and that is the most important thing. We all go through periods of recharge. I always think of life as a wave symbol not a line – if we do the best we can in the troughs and take the most advantage of the crests then it evens out in the long term and gets us to the port of call we are looking for.
Have a great coming week, Raelyn. Ride the waves 🙂

Hey, don’t beat yourself up too much! It sounds like you still got plenty accomplished, even if it wasn’t as much as you’d have liked. Sometimes we have an “off” week – and like you said, it’s a new week! So good luck getting back on track this week!

Onward and upward, right?
Thanks for stopping by Jennette.

Girl, I totally feel your pain. My last three weeks felt just like that. It happens. No biggee…I’d just ride it out and trust that whatever is holding you back will pass and you’ll be back on track and kickin’ it in no time!
Take some time for you….breath…smile…enjoy!
HUGS

As much as it would be nice to report weeks and weeks of all ups, there will just be times to share in the not-quite-up-there times.
Even though you’re head many not have been in the game on the writing end, you found, and shared with us, some great nuggets of information. Thank you.

Hopefully the ‘break’ will give me new insight when I open my file in the morning 😉

New week begins in just a few hours…ready, set…..GO! You’ll do much better this week. Just leave last week in the dust!
And like Gene always says, ‘any progress is good progress’! Have a great upcoming week, my friend!

We all have weeks like that. Personally, I take it as a sign that I need a break. Once I get over the guilt of taking days ‘off’…I know, I know…but guilt is engrained into my person…I find that I enjoy the break, I realize anew that the world will keep turning if I don’t answer all posts, comments, whatevs for a few days, and I’m refreshed and ready to jump back into my writing. So pick up your head (no shame hanging allowed). Ha!
Raelyn Barclay said:
LOL, okay, I won’t hang my head 🙂

Raelyn –
Thanks for the shout-out on my post at KM Weiland’s Wordplay. She’s a gracious host, and I enjoyed writing for her.
One of the reasons I began reading Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way in the first place is because I felt so “behind” after dealing with a family medical emergency for several months. I’ll be honest, it took me a long time to get over heaping guilt and punishment on myself for derailing. I’ve found, however, I have a lot more time to be productive and just enjoy the rest of life when I beat back guilt.
Best of luck in your writing!
Kelsey

You’re welcome. I bookmarked your site to explore when I have a moment or two.
I have the Artist’s Way and have tried to get through it a couple times. I definitely see the benefits if I can find the willpower 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Kelsey!

sometimes you need to take a break after you get beta comments – to let everything gel, and find solutions in your mind. things will pick up again!!

I’ve heard that before. Perhaps I didn’t let it rest enough but up until last weekend I was still pushing for a sub call deadline. So maybe the off week was an unconscious stepping back. Either way, hopefully, back on track this week 🙂
