Sunday Summary & #ROW80

  1. Just a reminder, the more posts you comment on in April for the blogiversary the more chances you have to win one of the giveaways! Oh, and the giveaways are open to everyone on the planet.
  2. The Writing: The wee beasties were on Spring Break this week. So no writing. I did toy with some ‘what if’ questions on the shiny idea.
  3. I don’t think of the above lack of progress as procrastination (the family comes first, after all) but Sonia Medeiros wrote a fabulous post, When I Have More Time and Other Lies We Tell Ourselves, on how to combat it!
  4. The Reading: Still working on The Plot Thickens: 8 Ways to Bring Fiction to Life which I’m not counting toward my two craft books this round as I started it before the round.
  5. I’ve had the honor of being a Beta Reader. I’ve benefited from my first experience of sending something out to Beta Readers. And I highly recommend it to anyone who loves to read. Jami Gold’s How Do We Find Beta Readers post is a great place to start.
  6. The Blogging: Check. All aspects of this goal went well this week (except for comments on Saturday). In fact, this goal is feeling pretty set.
  7. Loved this post, 10 Things to Know About Blogging, from Lynnette Conroy.
  8. The Social Media: Check, except maybe Friday and Saturday. I had a fabulous chat on Facebook with a gal from Algeria (complete with us both using Google Translate, LOL) … how cool is that?!
  9. I delayed joining Pinterest at first because of the potential time suck factor even though I saw some cool author storyboards. Then the copyright and lawsuit stuff hit the fan. Pinterest stepped up to the plate and fixed things. August McLaughlin wrote a fabulous post on the changes — How to Pin Without Getting Arrested. Still not ready to jump on board but August’s post makes me feel better about joining.
  10. The Health: Only hit 8 glasses of water once this week, 3 a day the rest of the week. Only got out for a walk once this week due to high winds the rest of the week. Sugar reduction still on track.
  11. I was search-bombed by Leanne Shirtliffe (aka Ironic Mom) Here’s How to Search Bomb Your Friends. Go forth and have fun!

Steampunk Tarot Deck

I had planned to tease you with some of the handmade cards but I ran out of time to take a picture. I received the Tarot cards sooner than I expected :pets the pretty: so here’s a look at the Tarot deck up for grabs in the blogiversary giveaway…

That picture doesn’t do this deck justice.

That steampunk tarot deck looks fab.

I love #3 and that link. Fabulous — I’m just now starting to get more time. I literally did NO writing for the past three months. But now baby and I are on a pretty good schedule and I’m starting to get back into it and loving every minute. It’s just hard to write those smexy scenes when baby is cooing and giggling…lol

Sounds like you are doing really well with everything – well done. I keep hearing about Pininterest but it sounds like just one more thing to stop me writing! Love the tarot cards.

Yeah, I can see myself getting caught up in Pinterest, hence not joining yet, but I do like the idea of being able to create storyboards, maybe pull together images for cover art, and getting feedback from people about it. Someday :)

      Thanks for stopping by Claire!

Great job on your goals this week – even with the beasties stealing your pen. I got searched bombed by Leanne this week as well, loads of fun!

Have a glass of water (suggestion sell) and a great coming week, Raelyn :)

Spring Break means things must have been crazy! I had no idea there was a steampunk tarot deck. That’s so cool! That beats the heck out of any Rider Waite deck. With all that was going on, good job on your progress :)

That’s a cool deck. Is it actually called a Steampunk deck?

Back at you :) And yes, it is called the Steampunk Tarot deck (the cards come with a detailed book) and is from Barbara Moore through Llewellyn. Definitely a cool deck!

      Thanks for stopping by Maria!

Very cool deck. I’m not much on the Steampunk thing but even I like those! I’m still not sure about the Pinterest thing, but at least they’ve taken steps toward legality. You’re doing great on the goals. I can only imagine how crazy it was with all the beasties at home! :)

Hope you had a great weekend.

I like the idea behind Pinterest and at some point will likely join so I was real glad to see them take steps toward fixing the legality issues.

It’s like herding cats…on speed!

      Thanks for stopping by Melanie!

Family first. I’m with you there. Love the picture of the Easter eggs and the cute porcelain mini rabbits next to them.

And that’s only a small portion of the eggs the wee beasties colored! The school handed out kits this year at the parent event they do each spring to celebrate parent participation in the school…and of course each kid got one so of course we had to USE each one

      Thanks for stopping by Angela!

Great progress and cool links! I’m sure you’ll get back to the writing once Spring Break is over. Ours was a few weeks ago (in Texas). Best wishes for a successful ROW80!

I was sold on the concept of using storyboards and its been all downhill from there. I actually have used its powers for good though! Such as with stocking recipes to complete on my claimed “cooking days”.

Thanks for all the great linkage. That steampunk deck looks gorgeous!

I am resisting Pinterst. I so do not need another time suck. I can barely keep up with blog reading! (At least WP let me sign in via my mobile today. It was being a pain yesterday.)

ROW80. I will get back to that one of these days…
