I’ve recently finished Gone Girl and recommend it. After that, I read a YA called Hero about a gay teen with superpowers. It was okay. Comic book lovers would be crazy about it.

Cool, I’ll have to check those out.

I squeezed in a middle grade read amid the craziness I’m doing with NEVERLOVE. It’s titled Flying the Dragon. It was certainly different from the darker YA stuff I’m used to. A good kind of different, though.

I recently picked up urban fantasy “Spider’s Bite” by Jennifer Estep, and enjoyed it more than I expected.
Other than that, I’ve been on a surprise cozy mystery kick.

I’ve got that one too, Nicole. In fact said it was next on my list last :snicker: yeah, that happened, not.

I thought it was pretty well written. And it managed to avoid many of the common cliches of the genre. The sequel is going on my “to purchase” list, rather than the library list.

I haven’t even started it but I have the whole series on my wishlist

I just read a lesser known Agatha Christie, “The Five Little Pigs.” I really liked it as a puzzle mystery because it had an interesting format: Poirot is asked to look into a 16-year-old murder that seemed open and shut at the time. He then talks to ten people and gets a follow up written testimony from five of them… meaning the same story gets told 15 times, each time casting a slightly different light on things. Then he tells the story a 16th time, revealing the truth.
What I particularly liked is that, within this “cold” way of telling a story, I found myself getting to like these characters — even the nasty ones you were supposed to hate — and I started to wish, each time the story was told, that the tragedy could be averted this time.

Once upon a time, I had Christie’s entire collection…a beautiful faux leather set that looked stunning on my library shelves in my living room, LOL. I did eventually get through them all and I remember The Five Little Pigs. How fun.
