Sunday Summary of #ROW80 Week 2

And it wasn’t too bad of a week at all.

  • 250 words per day…yep, as Morning Pages but still 250 words (or more) all but one day this week, even on that one day I did my Morning Pages just not meeting the word count.

I also managed an hour of editing yesterday. Whew.
  • Deep EDITS lessons — the Lesson One worksheets and assignments were:
  1. Review WIP and find a sentence or two that could use more power. Analyze. :snicker: All the sentences could use more power, hence my taking of this course.
  2. Review WIP and complete Anaphora Worksheet. Check.
  3. Review WIP and complete Asyndeton, Polysyndeton, and Understatement Worksheet. Check.
  4. Using the five chapters of WIP printed out, highlight the dialogue in BLUE. Read the dialogue out loud. Review the questions under BLUE in this lecture. Check, though I didn’t really do the questions to the depth the lesson was looking for. I’m not sure this WIP is ready for that level yet. I made notes in the margins, though.

My perfectionist side reared its ugly head while highlighting. I stopped myself from re-printing pages. Barely. LOL. I do like the Scrivener feature for highlighting and underlining which I ended up doing and I’m much happier for it :)

This week’s goals are simply:

  • Write 250 words (or edit for an hour) every day.
  • Complete all the worksheets and assignments for Lesson Two of Margie Larson’s Deep EDITS lecture packet.

How was your week?

You can find and support other ROWers here.

Did you know National Pie Day is coming up on Wednesday? I must decide which deliciousness to bake up and share with you. Any requests?

Glad to see you’re making writing progress. Steady as she goes when it comes to moving forward :-)

I’ve got one novella with my CP and I’m working on a re-read through of a project that I submitted to ABNA because if it doesn’t go far with the Amazon contest, I still have one or two small presses I’m considering and still the option of self-publishing so…yeah…kinda busy lol!!!

Ugh. My sentences need more power, too.

It’s one of those things I usually don’t focus on at this stage of the revision/edit process but I’m getting lots of great ideas :)

      Thanks for stopping by Nicole.

I knew about Pi Day, but not Pie Day. Cool!

That was a fair week (understatement). You were consistent, focused, successful (asyndeton). :)

Pie Day is sooo much more tasty than Pi Day :D

I’ve started LOOKING for the rhetorical devices in my reading…something must be sticking.

      Thanks for stopping by Julie.

Hi Raelyn, it looks like Kait has hit some trouble and we have no mid-week check-in. So no one is left out, please come over to our Facebook group and leave a link to your check-in post and we will be over to visit. The page address is https://www.facebook.com/groups/row80/ Alternatively, email me at katiecrcole@gmail.com and I’ll pass your post on. I know Facebook isn’t everyone’s cup of tea!

Should we have no Linky on Sunday, we’ll just keep working this way until things sort themselves out.

    Cheers!
