- Did you remember to spring forward?
- A link in Amy Shojai’s Monday Mention post lead me to this Google Authorship post. Hello! It’s easy to implement and already my search engine traffic has doubled, if not tripled. Yes, my spam has also gone up, but not horribly, and WordPress does a fantastic job of catching it. Additionally, my images are coming up as searchable. I don’t know about you but I’m always looking for images…win.
- The writing: okay, so no way this side of hell is my SF piece gonna be done for submission on Thursday. I spent a bit of time going back and forth. Should I keep pushing through? Should I return to the fantasy piece I was so close to finishing the first draft on? In the end, I’ve decided to keep pushing through with the SF piece. I need to get through it, even if it never reaches publish ready, for the lessons learned aspect. Ideally, I’d like to work on the fantasy piece during my D&E writing time (new wordage) and the SF piece in the afternoon (revisions/edits).
- Ever have trouble with your sex scenes? Jenny Hansen wrote a fabulous post: Using the 12 Stages of Physical Intimacy to Build Tension. Whew, did it just get hot in here?
- The blogging: I continue to work toward having two weeks scheduled (not counting these Sunday Summary posts) and managed to get quite a few posts drafted earlier in the week. So I’m feeling like this is a win though most of those drafts aren’t ready to schedule yet. Having taken the pressure of the sub deadline off the table I’ve managed to get around to commenting more. Yay.
- Earlier this week Maria Zannini posted: Never Run Out of Blog Topics. Talk about timing!
- The social media: thanks to Jenny Hansen’s More Cowbell Tribe on Triberr I’ve been meeting my retweet goal. Since signing up for StumbleUpon and Google + I’ve actually been spreading the love around. I even managed a bit of a conversation with @NatalieHartford on Twitter. Gasp, I know.
- Speaking of social media, did you know that you will be switched to Facebook’s Timeline by the end of the month? If you haven’t played with it yet, you may want to. Perhaps 6 Reasons Authors Should Love Timeline from Marcy Kennedy and Lisa Hall-Wilson will help. I hate that they are forcing the change but I kinda like the look of it. We’ll see.
- But wait! There’s more…YouTube. Brinda Berry talked about being Savvy with Sanity on Gloria Richard’s blog. Do you utilize YouTube?
- The health: Water. Check. Sugar reduction. Check. Dog walks… half a check? Wind has been really bad again this week. 70+ wind gusts one day which trapped me inside completely! I was able to get out for a walk once plus a game of fetch (great for the dog but didn’t do much for me, LOL) another day. Still working on this. I may have to resort to running up and down the stairs for a half hour (great for me but wouldn’t do much for the dog).

Thanks for the mention in such a terrific list of helpful links! I have to go immediately and check out the links in #2 and #6. I already read Jenny Hansen’s hilarious blog. 🙂 BTW, It’s nice to meet you and I added you to my Google reader and follow you on Twitter!
I’ve lurked around your blog a bit and have you in my reader. Nice to meet you too Brinda 🙂
Thanks for stopping by.
Thanks for the pingback and these awesome links.
I’ve been on a virtual journey with my LIFE IS GOOD Monkey — all the way from Dallas to Toronto, where my best buddy lives and writes. It’s the only way I could keep myself motivated and accountable for exercise goals. Miles logged on the treadmill at the gym meant nothing other than 3 mile cardio, check! So, I’m tracking my steps and miles each day. Run up and down the stairs? Yup. Done that. There’s also the cha-cha while watching television. I try to get in 20,000 steps a day, which equates to a bit over 7 miles per day.
Trotting over to calculate where my Monkey is on his trek. The dogs? They’re a bit confused when I march in place while folding laundry. Whatever works!
Great progress report on your ROW80 goals.
I used to do the step counting, perhaps I should get back into it 🙂 But I still need to get out walking the dog everyday, she needs the exercise as much as I do, if not more, LOL
Thanks for stopping by Gloria.
i’m trying to get moving more too – but unfortunately, i don’t have a *single* stair to climb. no joke! first floor of a brownstone in harlem 🙂
LOL, I suppose you could get one of those step thingies. I actually have one but use it more as a step stool than the exercise step it was meant to be 😀
Thanks for stopping by Gina.
Wouldn’t it be cool if our dogs could throw the stick back to us – might need goggles though. I like that you are pushing through on the SF and think you’ll feel a greater peace when its done for the effort. Should free the mind up for the fantasy work after that.
Doing great, Raelyn – Have a fantastic week 🙂
LOL, that’s quite the visual Gene. I’m rather glad we play fetch with tennis balls not sticks! It’s part of the learning process, even if it would almost be easier to start from scratch with the SF story.
Thanks for stopping by.
Thanks so much for the link to my post. I hope it helps make the Facebook changes a little less scary. Great mashup here – I’m off to check out a few I missed this week. Thanks!
Lisa
It was a great post Lisa and prompted me to start playing with the features.
Thanks for stopping by.
Awesome job on the goals this week, Raelyn. Right now, I’m picturing you and your dog racing up and down the stairs, and getting a giggle out of it. Hope the weather straightens out so you can get outside. Have a great week!
ROFL, that is a giggle-worthy image Sheila. The dog takes like four steps at time! We’d probably trip over each other. Weather is gorgeous on the days without wind, we’ve actually started leaving the window open at night…love that.
Thanks for stopping by.
Great links to follow, Raelyn! I went to the Google Authorship and hope I did it right! You did great his week–keep pushing on the SF, you’ll get there.
Good job on building your queue again…I’m working on the thing–it feels good!
Have a great upcoming week!
So many great posts this week! Yeah, having that queue built up relieves a lot of stress, that’s for sure. Hoping I can finish up a couple more today and get them actually scheduled.
Thanks for stopping by Marcia.
Wow this an awesome check in post Raelyn! The posts you mention are a plethora of great information! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am so going to bookmark this one! Love reading your post! Have another great week and don’t give up on your SF piece. Onward and upward! 🙂
Lots of great info out there, sometimes the only way I see it is through a mash-up 🙂 Onward and upward is right!
Thanks for stopping by Karen.
Great list, Raelyn! Thanks. Marcy & Lisa’s post in invaluable. I loved Jenny’s post too.
Yeah, I definitely needed Marcy & Lisa’s post to wade through the FB changes! Jenny has talked about the 12 stages on her blog before but I felt this one was in more depth.
Thanks for stopping by Fabio.
Don’t feel bad about your book not being ready for submission. Things almost never go as you plan, and that’s okay. It’s all about quality, right? And congrats on your goals, especially the health part. Way to go!
I don’t feel bad at all. The submission stretched me in a good way. My back and forth stemmed more from the fact I never planned for this story to see the light of day again, in fact only pulled it out because I thought it might fit the sub call.
Thanks for stopping by Stacy.
Happy for the success you’re feeling about tweeting and your work. I love reading what you’ve accomplished and how you deal with slow weeks or changed plans. You’re an inspiration.
Inspiration? LOL, not sure I’m feeling that one but thank you.
Thanks for stopping by Ali.
Your work does inspire me. I’m grateful for your friendship. Listen I left you a question on my blog about the idea you and your daughter are tossing around about book clubs. I’m interested if you want to share.
Sorry to keep popping in over here. I responded to your comment about a club for your boys. I left a short story about a boy who wasn’t a reader and what happened to him after he joined the club.
t went to Twitter to send you a message but I don’t think we’re following each other. I’m @Ali__Dent (2 underscores). If you decide to read classics with them I have some projects I can share with you that will make it really fun.
FAB week hon! And I totally luved our Twitter Convo – see how easy it is. 🙂 You are doing great with your goals and I loved the resources you gave us. I am definitely checking out the Google Authorship and the Never Run Out of Topics – woot woot – great stuff as always! Tks dollface.
Here’s to an amazing week ahead…
LOL, I never said having a Twitter Convo was hard. Finding the time is another story!
You’re like a bubbly breath of fresh air. Thanks for stopping by Natalie.
I’m glad you decided to push through on your story. Even if it doesn’t make this call, it’ll make another one. And when it does, you’ll be ready.
I’m always getting emails about the latest calls for submission. I’ll keep my eyes open for anything that’ll fit this one.
Thanks sweetie. I figured when I was closer to that step I’d sign up for emails/blog posts from some of the publishers. This was just chance sighting and I’m glad I tried for it, though I probably would have been better starting from scratch, LOL
I value your friendship and support. Thanks for stopping by Maria.
Wow. Great links, Raelyn! Sounds like you’re figuring out the whole SF/Fantasy thing — you know what you want to do…right? And you’re doing it.
Trying anyway 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Amy.
We love having you in the More Cowbell tribe 🙂
😀
Thanks for stopping by Marcy.
Wow! Thanks for all those amazing links, Raelyn. I’m adding you to my list of blogs I follow.
Boy the pressure is on now 🙂 Better start gathering links for this Sunday. I appreciate the support Suzanne.
Thanks for stopping by.
