Happy Earth Day
- The Writing: Not so much. It wasn’t that I didn’t get the butt in the chair, though I did have a few days where that was a struggle. I don’t fully buy into the muse but nothing spoke to me this week.
- I think I’ll print 25 Lies Writers Tell from Chuck Wendig and stick it on my wall!
- The Reading: Two more fiction stories read plus a couple of short beta reads came in, which I need to get back to the authors, hopefully today 🙂 I haven’t started the next craft book yet. I’m still trying to decide which way I want to go.
- Speaking of reading, I have been thoroughly enjoying Angela Brown’s fabulous A to Z Challenge posts. She has created wonderful characters and each post (each letter) is logically building on the one before, creating an amazing story. I encourage you to hop over and read Abby & Basil’s story. I hope she develops this an actual published book 🙂
- The Blogging: Check. I’m still maintaining about 2 weeks worth of scheduled posts. I’d love to have a month’s worth scheduled. I’m changing this goal from just posting 3 times a week (1 being these ROW80 check-ins) to scheduling 1 post per week until I have a month of posts. Once I have that cushion I’ll revisit what I need to do to maintain that cushion. Commenting: Check.
- The Social Media: I had a couple short conversations on Twitter and managed one update on Facebook above and beyond blog posts. Not great but a step in the right direction.
- I’m still trying to navigate the Twitter waters. Some days are awesome, I connect with someone and share info in a nice ratio. Others, I feel like spam, LOL. After my blog clean up between rounds, I realized I needed to do something similar with Twitter and my lists. Thanks to Roni Loren’s post about how to avoid being clique-y I think I have a plan. Just need to find the time, LOL
- The Health: Woot. I got out with Beastie Girl four of the last seven days. Each walk only lasted about 20 minutes…baby steps 🙂 Averaged 4 glasses of water each day. I did cave to the chocolate eclairs That Man bought into the house…yum, chocolate.
- I love Tiny Buddha and it is a daily must read for me. Kate Britt wrote about how Forming a Healthy Habit Starts From Within. What’s is your exercising obstacle?

Here’s a look at more of the cards up for grabs in the blogiversary giveaway…
All the cards are blank inside for your personal message and come with envelops. (Cards like the Mother’s Day card may cost extra to mail due to bulk.)
Good for you…I haven’t been brave enough to dive into the twitter waters yet. I’m having enough trouble keeping up with the blog, facebook (woefully inadequate use of that particular media), and goodreads. Sigh. I need more hours in the day…lol.
But on a happier note…I’ll begin writing this week :} This new historical ‘feels’ like it’s going to be fun.
There are some days where Twitter seems easier than Facebook and others where it’s the reverse. :sigh: 24 hours just isn’t enough time is it? 😆
Good luck with the new story and thanks for stopping by Nadja!
I’ve been doing some reassesment of Twitter recently and agree that it has become to linky. You inspire me to try to have more conversations, not making it an official goal, but definitely part of the plan now.
Awesome job on the health front, Raelyn. I’d say you earned the eclairs. Have a fantastic week 🙂
I went into Twitter with Kristen Lamb’s ratio of thirds (promo, reciprocation, conversation) in mind but it’s really hard to balance it. While Triberr makes the reciprocation part easy it also makes me feel like a spam-bot because I’m not getting that conversation in. Definitely something to continue working toward 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Gene!
I have already printed off Wendig’s thing and will probably read it every time I sit down to write anything from this point forward. And you and Gene are right: Twitter is too linky. Still, you can find some great stuff if you follow the hashtags. #row80 is a great one to start with. That’s how I’m approaching it.
Yeah, the hashtags help but my challenge opening TweetDeck to take advantage of them properly. Most days I open the website and just reply to the @ tweets. Definitely not utilizing Twitter by doing that.
Nice to meet you and thanks for swinging by John!
You had a really great week and the writing will come. Glad you were able to get out with the dog so often–good for both of you! The cards are beautiful–I’ll go check them out. On the SM, maybe try just one and focus on doing what you think you need to. I know I can’t do it all and I’m doing none of it really well. I think on Pinterest you can connect with more than writers more easily than Twitter. I’m also trying to get good at Goodreads, but I’m not one for getting into book discussions. It’s a constant struggle for me to get good at SM, but i keep trying. Have a week ahead, my friend!
It’s the conversations that are challenging me at the moment more than anything else. Twitter is like a big party. I’m better at the one on one interaction but feel awkward just jumping into a conversation already going on Twitter. Introvert much? And Pinterest….yikes, I so can’t take on more SM yet.
Thanks for stopping by Marcia!
The writing may not have been on full blast but you’ve made some great progress on a grander scale of things.
And thank you for the shout out. You’re so sweet. And I’ve started the process of working Abby and Basil’s story into a novel form. The working title is NEVERLOVE. 🙂
Yay, and what a great title!!
Thanks for stopping by Angela!
I like twitter a lot but mainly because I have so many people sharing sim. interests to mine – I have lists so if I feel like following tweets from science based folk or craft or permaculture I can – I find the #tags helpful for following like minded as well – have discovered such a lot up there
a good week for you and all the best for coming week
Like I mentioned to John, I really have to open up TweetDeck to utilize the hashtags and lists to the fullest, and most days that’s more involved than I have time. I really need to get better at that 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Alberta!
Gosh, I had forgotten about the 25 Lies Writers Tell – thanks for reminding of that. I just printed it out and I’m putting it up on my wall LOL
Isn’t it great?!
Thanks for stopping by Juliana!
I pretty much had to give up Twitter to do Facebook. There’s only so many hours in the day, and between smashing grasshoppers and weeding, my appointment book is full.
Ref: Angela Brown
I’ve been avoiding that A-Z challenge like the plague. Sorry, Angela. \o/ But I still love you, and I’ll be back soon.
With all your frugal posts…no doubt! Do you have to fight the grasshoppers every year? I’d be moving, LOL.
Oh, you so have to go read Angela’s story. She is totally rocking the blog serial, and that link takes you to where she has them all compiled.
Thanks for stopping by amongst grasshopper smashing Maria!
You are doing a great job on your goals. I’d love to have a month done in advance. I’d hoped to have all my A to Z done in April, but I didn’t finish the last week. I’m struggling to stay on task. 🙂
It helps that I only post 3 days a week, LOL.
Thanks for stopping by Ciara!
I can’t turn down a chocolate eclair either. 😉
Yeah, what is it about those eclairs? LOL
Thanks for stopping by Liz!
Thanks Raelyn for the links. Don’t read Wendig much because of the language but have to admit will probably print out the 25 lies. Angela Brown’s A to Z soap opera – *sigh* I’m bookmarking it so can spend some time without rushing through. Wow – two weeks work of posts maintained. Wish I could find the time to do that. Excuses right. Twitter – I’m a hit and run tweeter now. Five minutes in, write a tweet, browse through and then I’m off. A couple years back I tried it and it was such a time suck I had to delete my account. Keeping my addiction in check now. 🙂 Sounds like you are doing great. Have a wonderful week.
Angela is working it into a story, yay 🙂 And 2 weeks sounds impressive but it really is only 6 posts. Hit-n-Run, yep, that’s what I feel like on SM a lot of the time, LOL.
Thanks for stopping by Robin!
Mmmm, chocolate eclairs! I have been trying to avoid sugar, but I may have to swing by the bakery and buy myself just one. 😛
I LOVE Chuck Wendig with every sordid bone in my body, and cannot get enough of his list posts. And thanks for linking up Angela Brown’s wee series. Such a great twist on the A to Z challenge.
Great job on the goals this week, Raelyn!
I’m not avoiding sugar but definitely trying to cut down 🙂 You’re right, Angela’s series is a brilliant twist on the challenge.
Thanks for stopping by Lena!
Ugh. I have a love-hate relationship with Twitter. It can be awesome, but so much depends on what the people you follow are tweeting.
A great checkin, sorry I’m late getting around to people. I love that 25 list, and I will definitely be putting it up. It was a nice kick in the pants. Thanks for sharing it. Hope you are having an excellent week!
It’s a great list and, you’re right, the prefect kick in the pants.
Thanks for stopping by Tia!
