One of the things on my goal/to-do list I haven’t put on my ROW80 goals post, at least not yet, is to get back into reading blogs. That poor Google Reader is just stuffed to the brim.
I managed to get a bit of reading in over the weekend. Shock, I know. Especially if you’d been a fly on a wall in our house, assuming you escaped death and destruction from the four wee beasties. Anyway, a theme, if you will, kept popping up.
Resolutions…bah!
The name of the game is to select a word for the year. A word to strive for in your day-to-day life, not just one area of said life.
I LIKE IT.
It got me thinking, as I didn’t have anything planned for today’s post anyway, “What would be my word for the year?”
I need to juggle my work and personal life better. Not just my writing work but my EDJ work with the family, friends, and hobbies personal life. And not feel guilty about me-time.
I’ve heard of balance but I’m still trying to achieve it. Sorry, couldn’t resist. 🙂 I think my word would be goal-setting. I know, that’s technically two words, but that’s my focus for the year. I have a lot I want to accomplish and am trying to take the baby steps needed to achieve it without overwhelming myself. I hope you find your balance. Good luck!!
You do have a lot on your list Mel! Your list scares me and it isn’t even mine, LOL. goal-setting is a nice action ‘word.’
Cheering you on 🙂
My word/theme for the year is “J’adoube”. It’s a chess move, or rather what’s supposed to be said before the move is made. It means “I adjust.”
Good luck with your theme of balance for the year, Raelyn! I’ll be cheering you on. 🙂
I’ve heard of the word, just hadn’t realized it was connected to chess. Guess my instructors in the game failed to teach me it, LOL
“I adjust” is a great theme for the year. I’ll be cheering for you as well 🙂
I hadn’t thought about picking a word for the year, but it’s a really good idea. Something to think about… Though balance is a good choice. I need some of that, too, even if it’s not MY word of the year.
Hey, you have a lot on your plate this year…I don’t own balance, LOL
I’ll be cheering you on whatever word you decide on 😀
I’m leaning toward “Renewal.” Haven’t decided for sure yet, though. 🙂
Oh, I like that Nicole.
It seems to fit the year for me. I haven’t found anything else that really speaks to me yet. I think this is a keeper. 🙂
This is a fun idea. It’s looking like my word will be “faith”. My first day back at the day job and I lost 60% of my hours. But I’m not going to fret about it. Maybe this year my books will finally take off. And if not, well there is satisfaction in having God swoop in at the last minute with the means to pay the bills. 😉
60%? Ouch! But I like your attitude Angela and what a great word for the year.
Cheering for you 🙂
Is gung-ho one word or two? If that doesn’t work, I can always use ‘screwed’. That seems to be my word every year. LOL.
You can’t pick screwed, unless we’re talking dirty and it’s a good thing 😉
Gung-ho works for me. Pulling out the pom-poms!
I picked the word FORWARD. I want to keep moving forward–not looking back or standing still. Sometimes my progress stagnates, and I get comfortable there. Not in 2013! Forward.
Balance is lovely. Let us know how it goes!
Forward is a GREAT word Julie!
Cheering you forward 🙂
