Having boys means a lot of my time is spent schlepping to practices and games and being the supportive spectator. Over the years we’ve done baseball and soccer, and even tae-kwon-do.
It was an easy thing while living in rural Oregon where everything was five minutes from everything else, LOL. Even with That Man traveling I was able to keep up.
Here in Vegas it’s more of a challenge meeting all the activities for all the of boys, especially during the first three months of the year when That Man is crazy busy. This will be the first season where I’m working, too. It should be interesting.
Spring football has started.
#2 has started tackle football in preparation of following his dream of playing high school football with an eye toward a football scholarship for university. Gotta love a kid with plans. His schedule is crazy busy though. Practice three nights a week and games every Saturday (once they start mid-March).
#3 and #4 will be starting flag football this upcoming week. (I’m not in a financial position to buy gear for three though #4 would probably be a great tackle player.)
All of this on top of the fact #3 is still in choir with practice every Wednesday after school and performances most Thursday nights.
Yearly Goals
- I have once again registered on Goodreads to read 100 books. However, this may change as I plan to put writing before reading this year.
- Lose 50 pounds. I slacked off the last part of 2013, ’nuff said. – Grr, up 2.6 this week.
Quarterly (AKA ROW80) Goals
- Draft the Steampunk story I attempted for NaNo 2013. Oh, and figure out a title.
- Read Who Are You in the Tarot?
by Mary K. Greer and do the applicable exercises. – Read two chapters, no exercises yet.
Monthly Goals
- Read, at least, one paper book. With the ease of carrying my eReaders around my poor paper books have been neglected. – Goal attained for January. Read Desire’s Edge
by Eden Bradley writing as Eve Berlin. Goal attained for February. Read A Knight in Shining Armor
by Jude Deveraux.
- At least, one date night with That Man. – Goal attained for January.
Weekly Goals:
- Spend a minimum of 3 hours per week on writing. – Not attained.
- Maintain 3 blog posts per week. – Not attained. Only 2 of the 3.
- Visit and comment on at least 12 blogs per week, 3 of which HAVE to be ROW80 blogs. – Target attained (21/4 ROW blogs).
- Connect on Facebook and Twitter with, at least, one non-blog post or share per week. – Target attained.
- Maintain books read on Goodreads. – Target attained.
- Exercise 3 times per week. – Not attained. Only 1 of the 3.

How was your Valentine’s Day?
Wishing you the best as you work on your goals with the various sports schedules kicking in. Family is key so sending you good vibes to enjoy as much as you can and let the cards land where they may for those things outside of your highest priorities 🙂
It’s always a juggling act Angela, especially being as outnumbered as I am. Thanks for the well wishes 🙂
I cannot even imagine the logistics behind keeping up with four boys. At least it’ll get easier when the first one starts to drive.
I know. Bite my tongue. 🙂
Believe it or not, I’m counting the days. However, he currently has no desire to learn. He’s old enough to get his permit and hasn’t taken any steps that direction. Sigh.
As for logistics…where’s that cloning technology when you need it? LOL.
Thanks for stopping by Maria.
As a teen, I babysat for a family of four boys – the middle two were twins.
My own boy, almost 12.5, is very eager to drive and to get his working papers. He’s researched the laws, gotten a driver’s manual, and has the dates he can do these desired things firmly set in his mind.
He’s not at all interested in competitive sports, but he’d like to give fencing and archery a try this year, so, when spring breaks over upstate New York, we’ll be looking into that for him.
You seem to be doing well, overall, considering all that’s going on in your world!
May you maintain sanity and writing space through the bedlam of spring sports!
I remember being like that when I was approaching driving/working age. Kid #1 has NO interest. A co-worker and I were talking about this recently and came to the conclusion that today’s teens have so much connectivity (texting, social media, etc.) that the need to drive isn’t as pressing as when we were that age.
Thanks for the wishes Shan 🙂
My son is into electronics and art, so I’m thankfully spared all those sports/practice things. I have mad respect for the moms that do that, though. I barely manage getting both my kids everyday stuff done.
I like how you broke up your goals. I think you’re doing well with all you have undertaken.
Keep the the great work!
Same with my oldest Gloria. He’s pursuing web design and graphic arts now, but he did his stint of baseball and tae-kwon-do.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
It’s great that your kids are so interested in sports. My husband played soccer throughout most of his childhood, and I know he benefited a lot from it. Unfortunately, I had zero interest (or talent) in the athletic arena of life–though I might have enjoyed some martial arts classes.
Good luck juggling your schedule and your writing goals, Raelyn! Have fun. 🙂
It is a juggling act for sure Denise. Thanks for the wishes 🙂
Good luck with the goals! It looks like it was a grab bag all around last week – mine was too, hence why I’m not bothering to post a belated update. 🙂
Good luck making this week better than last week!
Back at you Nicole 🙂
