Out the window, LOL.
Our old beast is on life support, requiring a new engine to purr again. Our family’s priority this year is to move into a larger home so we’re parking the old car until we’ve achieved that goal. In the meantime, we must have two reliable vehicles thus yesterday was spent car shopping.
I have to say, with all that happened this week, I am pleasantly surprised with my progress this week. Here’s how it broke down.
Yearly Goals
- I have once again registered on Goodreads to read 100 books. However, this may change as I plan to put writing before reading this year.
- Lose 50 pounds. I slacked off the last part of 2013, ’nuff said. – this wasn’t even on my radar yesterday and I forgot to weigh in
Quarterly (AKA ROW80) Goals
- Draft the Steampunk story I attempted for NaNo 2013. Oh, and figure out a title.
- Read Who Are You in the Tarot?
by Mary K. Greer and do the applicable exercises. – Read two chapters, no exercises yet.
Monthly Goals
- Read, at least, one paper book. With the ease of carrying my eReaders around my poor paper books have been neglected. – Goal attained for January. Read Desire’s Edge
by Eden Bradley writing as Eve Berlin. Goal attained for February. Read A Knight in Shining Armor
by Jude Deveraux.
- At least, one date night with That Man. – Goal attained for January. And whether it qualifies or not, I’m calling a day spent with That Man, even if it was just car shopping, our February date 🙂
Weekly Goals:
- Spend a minimum of 3 hours per week on writing. – Not attained, but closer this week as I’ve been taking my computer to football practice.
- Maintain 3 blog posts per week. – Target attained.
- Visit and comment on at least 12 blogs per week, 3 of which HAVE to be ROW80 blogs. – Target attained (24/6 ROW blogs).
- Connect on Facebook and Twitter with, at least, one non-blog post or share per week. – Target attained, I think.
- Maintain books read on Goodreads. – Target attained.
- Exercise 3 times per week. – Target attained.

Great goals and you’re doing great with them. 🙂
Thanks Diana. Glad you stopped by 🙂
YAY! Love that you’re making great progress 🙂
It was a rather surprising week 🙂 Thanks stopping by Angela.
When do you plan to start house hunting? Are you looking forward to it?
I’ve started the purge and pack. We took the first van load to Goodwill yesterday. And yes, we have started the hunt. In fact, I just replied to our realtor with two we’d like to tour. Since we don’t have a time limit (IE: closing date) we can be picky. I’ve always enjoyed looking at houses 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Maria.
Home buying can be a LOT of fun (as long as you aren’t in a rush). Enjoy the chance to test out things you are “sure” on. And don’t be afraid to make a bid on something you love (even if your realtor tries to suggest otherwise… we found that out the hard way… if you want, I’ll say why).
As car shopping! Funny because the Leader of the Opposition Party and I signed paperwork on our first new car this morning. The old cars are… well, the engine is great on one, but the body’s gone so far they won’t inspect it, and the other is…
Don’t know what your engine trouble is, but if it’s burning oil because of bad rings, you might want to try tossing a bit of brake fluid in the oil to soften the rings that are there. It’s few bucks at most, and might get ou another six months to a year of use. If it’s a timing belt issue, a lot of the time they are less work to replace than you might think. (I grew up with car people, can’t you tell?)
Oh, and the goals… Yeah! You are making great progress, Raelyn. Having big financial decisions hanging over one’s head can be stifling, but you’re holding your own despite that.
We aren’t in a rush and we have a list of musts, and would be nices 😀
As for the car, a rod blew so a new engine is the best option. And while we really didn’t want another car payment we are in a comfortable place to handle. Thankfully.
Thanks for stopping by Eden.
Ouch… blowing a rod is…yeah, that’s a death knell. Good about the other stuff though…. 😀
Wow, car shopping and a new home on the horizon–I think my brain would explode from all the options and number-crunching! Good luck with both, Raelyn! 🙂
We’re just happy to be in a financial spot where it is workable. We pick up the new-to-us car today and that will be a huge sigh of relief.
Thanks for stopping by Denise.
