Tip-toed up behind me and gave me a Gibbs head slap befitting of Tony DiNozzo. Despite best laid plans to celebrate this month.
April, instead, is CampNaNoWriMo month.
I started strong during Day One (1,742 words) and Two (1,476 words) then fizzled the rest of the week. The problem, besides the craziness that is my life, is that characters from another story are clamoring for attention. It would be so awesome to be able to work on multiple projects at a time.
Maintaining a blog presence continues to be a challenge. Posting interesting content here, stuff people actually WANT to read, fails me. Getting around to other blogs, a goal of at least twelve each week, went a bit better with me commenting on fourteen this week.
Maintaining a social media presence also continues to be a challenge. Though I did quite a bit of activity the first couple days of Camp both on Twitter, with a lot of conversations back and forth, and Facebook, that level has never been something I can maintain long term.
There’s been nothing to update on Goodreads as this month’s focus must be writing, and Camp.
Time to see if I can’t catch up on some wordage for Camp.
So tell me, do you find monthly goals more successful for you, or quarterly, or annually?
It’s a process, Raelyn. Don’t flog yourself. (hug). Like I tell my students – you can only do your best, and that’s all anyone asks. If you’ve done your best, don’t stress about it.
Aside from not meeting goals I’ve set for myself I’m not stressing. I have too much going on in my life to stress the small stuff 🙂 Thanks Lara.
I’m struggling with Camp too – haven’t even opened my file all weekend. Of course had an Evil Day Job issue midnight- 1AM last night so I’m worthless today too. Hugs, hang in there. Balance is still something I struggle with.
Balance…You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. 😆 Thanks Joely.
I’ve been rather useless the last week or two. Been doing mostly re-reads of manuscripts instead of getting in new words. I must do better.
I do, however, do better at monthly goals than annual or quarterly. There’s something about breaking a bigger goal down into smaller chunks that makes it easier to deal with.
Keep at what you’re doing. Accomplish what you can and as you mentioned, no need to sweat the small stuff.
Happy Third Blogiversary 🙂
And you rock those monthly goals too. I bow to you my friend. Thanks Angela.
Normally I would say that monthly goals work best for me… but I haven’t been doing so hot with Camp NaNo so far this April. I do know that annual goals tend to get forgotten well before the end of the year, and quarterly goals aren’t much better. I guess it all depends on the goal itself…
I’m starting to think I need to work weekly, LOL.Thanks Nicole.
Yeah, I’m getting to that point, too. Though even my daily to-do list doesn’t seem to be working these days.
Heh. Lately I’ve been making weekly goals. And on weeks that that becomes too tough, it becomes daily goals.
Spring is always toughest on me because there’s more to do. Winter and Summer is my “down” time. That’s Maria time slowed down to normal human time. LOL.
Maria Time, love it! As I just mentioned to Nicole, I think I need to look at weekly goals. There’s just too much going on right now to focus long term. Thanks Maria.
I’m so glad you posted this! If it’s your 3rd anniversary, that means it’s mine too. Fun! I have weekly blog goals – 2x minimum, with a third if I have a guest post, or am feeling quite zealous about something.
It seems to work well for my schedule and allows me to take a few days off a week, which makes a huge mental health difference.
Congratulations for hanging in this long! Lots of people abandon their blog after 6-12 months so you should be very, very proud. 🙂
Time flies 😀 I agree the 2 or 3 posts a week is a good balance, when I can manage it, LOL
Thanks Jenny, and back at you!
