Do you prefer to read collections that are all of works by the same author? Or collections by different writers? Consistency or variety?
I’m a fast reader and I prefer longer stories. Something with meat that will keep me in the world and with the characters for more than an afternoon. So in that sense I prefer collections by the same author.
However. I find myself reading more novella length works since owning an eReader. Is that because that’s what authors with an eye to digital publishing do? Or is it because I don’t feel as guilty paying 99 cents? Since owning my eReader I’ve definitely read more collections by various authors. Anthologies are a bit like a cruise. You get a taste of different ports to which you might return for a longer visit.
Am I wishy-washy to say, BOTH?
I’ve written for anthologies but I’ve never liked reading them because most are too short.
Like you though, I’ve found I read more novellas now that I have an e-reader. There’s something satisfying about reading a longer novel in paper though.
Oh yeah, I’m definitely a hybrid reader. I doubt I’ll ever change much 🙂
Thanks for swinging by, Maria.
I’m with you on being wishy-washy and liking both. 🙂
Loving that TARDIS Michael 🙂
Thanks for stopping by.
I’m all for the guilt-free 99¢ reads. 😉
They do fit the bill every now and then 🙂
Thanks for swinging by Nicole.
I love stories, the long and short.
The long, the short, the medium…LOL
Thanks for stopping by Angela.
I agree; I also like both.
That seems to be a running theme 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Mervi.
