Today’s prompt is ten thoughts on the Winter Olympics. Hmm…
- We enjoyed the opening ceremonies
- That Man is all about the hockey
- Kid 1 is all about the snowboarding
- Kid 2 is utterly uninterested in the whole thing
- Kid 3 is all about the hockey
- Kid 4 doesn’t get the hype
- I haven’t seen a single figure skating event
- I suspect the time difference has a hand in our lack of viewing
- I prefer the Summer games to the Winter games
- Quite frankly, most of us are ready for regular TV viewing to resume
I’s a bit sad to say, but I’m a bit uninterested in this year’s Winter Olympics.
The politics do take some of the fun out of it.
I’m more of a Summer Games person, but I do like the speed skating. I’ve watched very little this year due to bad timing. If Greg were here the tv would be on all the time. But me, I forget the games are on. \o/ .
I have so little TV time this barely registers.
There are a couple of figure skaters that I’ve really enjoyed seeing: Julia Lipnitskaya, who is the most amazing skater I’ve seen and probably has every 15-year-old boy in the world in love with her, and Jason Brown, who’s from my old neck of the woods (Highland Park, Illinois) and who brings the house down every time he skates (and he has a ponytail). I thought Meryl Davis and Charlie White were spectacular in taking the gold in ice dancing. And I can’t help but be happy for the Dutch, whose speed skaters have made Hans Brinker proud.
Weird thing is I really didn’t expect to enjoy them this much. Since 1989, when Atlanta was told that they would be hosting the ’96 games, I’ve been kind of down on the whole Olympics thing. The preparations for those games threw the city into a tizzy and had people hating each other.
I’ve never had to live through Olympic prep but I can imagine the chaos. Glad you’re enjoying the games 🙂
I am all about the figure skating, when I actually watch… but I bet you guys have been watching a lot of hockey. It looks like you’re outnumbered.
We haven’t watched nearly as much as we have in past years, but yeah, I utterly outnumbered, LOL.
